HAPPENINGS FOR 2025

It has been awhile since I have posted anything on here. Time seems to get away from me. I know that we are 3 months into the new year, but I will try to update you.

In January, I was busy getting ready for an auction and open house for our new Parkland Community Center. The Parkland Community Association has purchased the Historic Parkland School in our community and we are busy restoring it into a community center. Our are of Parkland, just south of the city of Tacoma has never had a central meeting place where people could meet. The old Parkland School was due to be demolished when a group of concerned citizens organized and with a lot of work, financial help and prayer, purchased the school from Pacific Lutheran University. Our Parkland Spanaway Kiwanis club has been involved in the project and we have contributed money and time to work on the building.

The efforts continued in February with a million dollar donation campaign to earn the one million plus mortgage that is due on the 30th of April. In March, we are having a rummage sale to continue the fund raising efforts. Parts of the building have already been rented out to non-profit organizations that are helping homeless families find housing, providing areas for kids to come for sports activities and counseling.

I have continued with my writing. My first novel, Journey to the Pacific has been written into a screen play and I am now waiting for a producer to pick it up and make a movie or T.V. show out of it. Both Journey and The Emancipation of William Jones, Jr. have been republished and the third book in the trilogy, “Finding Love in the Trenches” is now being published. I am excited about being able to see all three books in print and am hoping that the marketing campaigns being done now will be successful in selling them.

My book, Journey to the Pacific was featured in the London Book Fair last week and garnered quite a bit of interest. Unfortunately, I was not able to be there, but I was on a Zoom link and was able to view some of the activity. Explora Books, based in Vancouver, BC did a great job of promoting my book.

Below is a picture of my book on display in the Explora Books booth.
