My book, “Journey to the Pacific, One Man’s Quest” is generating a lot of interest. I seem to get several calls a day from publishers and/or acquisition companies who are interested in turning it into a movie or tv series. Most of them I ignore, but I got one call from a company called Explora Books based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada who was intriguing. The e-mailed me some information about their company and what they did and I did a little research on them. They gave me a name of one of their clients to talk to. He had a positive experience with them, so I listened to their proposal.
Well, they were impressive with what they were willing to do. They sent a very favorable press release to l great number of media companies around the country. They also are doing a Cinematic Trailer for my book. It is like a short preview of the story in film, but to top it off, they scheduled be to give four producer pitches to try to sell the book to be made into a tv series or movie.
I gave the first pitch last week and it wasn’t super successful. The producer wasn’t that interested in proceeding with the project. I gave another pitch on Wednesday the 14th of August. It went very well. I was only suppose to be on the phone for 10 minutes with the producer, but was on for 15 minutes. She asked me all kinds of questions about how I cam about writing the story and where my ideas came from.
Well, I received the feedback from her the next day. I was told it could take as many as 3 to 5 days to get any feedback. I was shocked at her positive response to my pitch. She rated my performance with high numbers and has asked for a screenplay script. Explora books will write the screenplay in house and we will see what happens from there. I am very excited and very humbled at the response from them and the response from my publisher Reader’s Magnet. My contact there, Jamaica is so sweet and I want to adopt her. She has been a staunch supporter of this project from the very beginning.
The Emancipation of William Jones, Jr. is the sequel to Journey and could possibly be incorporated into this project. We don’t know yet. I am in the process now of writing another book to take the the family and the town of Rawlings, Washington further into the 20th Century; through the First World War and into the 1920’s. We will see how far I can go.
To top my week off, I had the extreme pleasure of spending last night with my 8 month old Great-granddaughter, Noah K., her Mommy, Emma, her Daddy Logan and my Son and Daughter-in-law, Patrick and Jo-Elle. Noah is learning to crawl and pull herself us and is an absolute delight. She had a bag of toys with her, but preferred to play with a plastic straw, a paper cup and some magazines that wound up in the recycle bin when she was through with the. I forgot how much fun it is to sit and watch a baby.
Have a good weekend everyone!
